So I'm buying a new camera, I'm partial to Canon and they just released two new point and shoot cameras. The SD880IS (28-112mm) and the SD990IS(36-133mm), one being 10.3MP and the other being 15.0MP. I no nothing about cameras, but my instinct is that on a point and shoot ,10MP is already overkill, and having a 15.0MP is ludicrous and the lens isn't good enough to take advantage of it really.
The biggest difference I see in these cameras are the lenses then. What is the difference between the two and what are the advantages in this size difference? Is one a wide angle?
Also the 880 is $50+ cheaper and has a bigger 3" LCD, and about .5x more optical zoom. To me the 990 just comes in a cool black and has more useless megapixels. Pretty sure I will go with he 880 if the lens checks out okay.
I'm also up for any suggestions on cameras though.
