I've been using adaware, spybot search and destroy, and registry mechanic for years. What else is out there that works well and is free?

ccleaner is good ... I've also been using malwarebytes to clean out shit that people have been getting lately.

Malwarebytes works well on most of the current Trojans (Antivirus 2009, WinAntiVirusXP, etc.), and it's not bloated and slow like Adaware. Adaware has become fairly useless compared to Spybot and Malwarebytes.

I'm a big beliver in "don't click shit you shouldn't". I run AVG to keep out stuff people using my PC might get into, and Malwarebytes to remove big problems.

For the most part, I use "format C:". Ya, it's a little overkill...but it works. Almost all my files are on another HDD, so there isn't much backing up. Every 8-12 months I just reformat and don't reinstall crap I don't use anymore.

The way I see it...if you could rebuild your engine in a few hours, wouldn't you do that instead of oil changes?
