Best Antivirus / Malware shit...

So my girl got a new laptop, but i haven't used a windows PC in literally over 2 years. All I remember is that Nortorn was a steaming pile of shit resource hog in your face every 2 seconds monstrosity. I doubt it has changed much since then...

Anyway trying to avoid installing it, but i don't want to install other peices of shit on top of it.

Btw its windows vista home edition... any recommendations on protection settings for it? I am a total newb all over again.

Anyway thanks for any tips and responses.

Vista has a malware scanner. AV software isn't necessarily needed if she doesn't blindly download stupid shit.

2. Download PC DeCrapifier, run.

4. Install Anti-Malware
Malwarebytes.org

i already uninstalled norton with its "uninstall norton" command line .... do i need to get the removal tool also... is there like shit that the basic norton uninstall doesn't remove?

i use revo uninstaller. it runs the regular uninstall, then deletes all the left over registry items and such.

Tons of crap Norton leaves behind. That's why they invented the removal tool.
Norton made it for people trying to upgrade to a new version that got stuck. Their crap is so bloated, they need a special tool to remove it all. Run the DeCrapifier next and get rid of all the trial software they put on the machine.
