It's almost as if it gives people an excuse to make bad movies/music...or maybe its added after the fact. They see the finished product and they are like "man this fucking sucks".
"Yea it really does. Oh well, just put 'indie' in front of the genre and we can still make money from hipsters"
 
indie is just short for independent so music not on a large record label or a movie not made by a large production company

people will always make bad music and movies whether its called indie or not
 
When Microsoft first released Game Creator so anyone could make an XBox game it was called "Community Games". All the games sucked so they renamed it "Indie Games"

Seems to support your theory.
 
for me "indie" first brings independent games in mind... although there are some really good ones... most are a huge sesspool of crap. if anything it proves that gamers dont make good games.
 
Given that indie typically has 1/100th of the budget that a major studio in the same industry has, it's not hard to see why (in most cases) the product will be of an inferior quality.

In other words, thanks for the thread captain obvious.

But at least indie tends to drive innovation as those who produce the work are willing to experiment, and the art itself tends to take precedence over bottom-line, so when something indie succeeds, major studios hop on the bandwagon and murder it to hell by flooding the market with shitty variations of whatever inspired the original success.

Yea but if its specifically labeled indie, it sucks.
 
uh there's been quite a few good indie games, musical albums, and movies that have come out over the last 2 years, and they're labeled indie.

some of it's trash but some isn't. spend a few minutes on this thing called the internet, and you might find something you like.
 
sooooo much music that people think is good fucking blows

seems like every day someone makes a thread here with 5 youtube videos of some local band or shitty type of music that they really like

christ it's always so awful
