Hoover was a democrat before becoming a Republican he switched parties a bunch of times actually.

Hoover sometimes gets a bad rap for the entire depression and all. Although he may be deserving of some of the negativity especially relating to his slow response to the depression, he also had lots of good humanitarian policies and served the US well even after his presidency during and after WWII.

Overall not a great president, but was a good guy with good ideas.
