The Isle of the Dead symbolizes a ruined greatness being approached by some pure and beautiful force, to reinvigorate and cleanse the darkness and filth from on top of the marble construction poking out.

I had seen that picture in a different way when i saw it.

the first thing that came to me was this.

A dead warrior crosses the waters of death alone dresses in white in peace for he died in war and is now at peace and he is crossing over to the place of folk.
I thought of something of wagner and of German and germanic afterlife. A glamorous view of the afterlife came to mind. But also thoughts of the lonely journey that we must take - in life as death is something we will all do.
