New New GIF (animated) Thread

this is San Fransisco

They have a new law that prohibits police from detaining people for theft under $999.

Shoplifting has... surprise-surprise... skyrocketed and stores have closed en masse.

It's like democrats want their cities to fail... they want economies to collapse.

Shoplifting in San Francisco is so out of control that retailers are closing stores

As soon as you understand that they have weaponized the homeless and thieves to force you out of town, you will begin to get it. Do you have any idea how much federal money these towns get for failing? They claim "opportunity zones" based on crime and homeless. Compare that to how much they get from your tax dollar as a business owner. Do you see the model? These cities do not care about most business. If you want them to squeal, the law offices need to band together to leave. That gets shit done. Mostly for the lawyers, though :)

Looks like a great opportunity for organised crime to step in and start offering protection.

Beating the shit out of a few shoplifters would do amazing things to lower the rate

Despite the shoplifting concerns, data from the San Francisco Police Department shows there has actually been a decline in crime this year. Property crimes in San Francisco are down 7.6% so far this year compared to this point last year, and larceny theft, a category of crime that includes shoplifting, is down 14.4% compared to last year, according to SFPD data.

larceny theft, a category of crime that includes shoplifting, is down 14.4% compared to last year, according to SFPD data.

Larceny theft includes shoplifting, petty theft, grand theft, theft from vehicle, and looting. The presented data does not break down the individual categories, only presents a total number of collective incidents. Without more detailed data, you can't assume that shoplifting is down 14.4% simply because larceny theft is down by 14.4%. For all you know based on that data set, shoplifting is up 50% but looting is down 100%.

“The one trend we are seeing is more violence and escalating – and much more bold,” Commander Raj Vaswani of the San Francisco Police Department said at the hearing. “We see a lot of repeat offenders.”

Nice 1 Raj..now explain why you are letting them go
