this is San Fransisco
They have a new law that prohibits police from detaining people for theft under $999.
Shoplifting has... surprise-surprise... skyrocketed and stores have closed en masse.
It's like democrats want their cities to fail... they want economies to collapse.
Shoplifting in San Francisco is so out of control that retailers are closing stores
As soon as you understand that they have weaponized the homeless and thieves to force you out of town, you will begin to get it. Do you have any idea how much federal money these towns get for failing? They claim "opportunity zones" based on crime and homeless. Compare that to how much they get from your tax dollar as a business owner. Do you see the model? These cities do not care about most business. If you want them to squeal, the law offices need to band together to leave. That gets shit done. Mostly for the lawyers, though

The rest of it? They don't care. They want to force you out. They want to be able to claim hardship. They want to buy the ruined properties at pennies on the dollar. They want to sell it to foreign investors.
You will get it. I have seen it in PDX. It is coming for everyone that allows this to take hold in your town.
Here is the recipe:
Stop putting people in jail
Decriminalize crime
Let people live on the street
Force out single familes
Force out small business
Get federal relief funding
<Blame covid or whatever here>
Get more money
When the city is destroyed sell to foreign inverstors
Build high density mixed and low income housing to pack the electoral
Award contracts to rebuild to friends
Take money. Lots of money.
No one is left to argue about it. They all moved out.
Walk with the money.
Money money money.
Votes votes votes.
Rinse repeat every 10 years or so.
The city gets WAY more money and funding when rebuilding vs being mature and having consistent income.
The only protection? Voting in the right people. Not allowing it to start. As soon as you see people sleeping on your streets or crime is going up STOP it. It might already be too late at that point.
