Hjauling out of control.

ya f it.

the guy down the street has a 4cyl 5sp ranger for $500 runs n drives n clean just the hangers n shackles rusted out n the axle fell out

Yeah, jump on that garbage ranger. hope it's not as bad as the last one you picked up and tore apart with a claw hammer.

ya that ol project is just hanging around.

ive done literally everything else and saved that rust bucket for last

i got everything for it - just need the time to glue the metal bits together. Theres a metal supplier like, 30 mins from me and a welding gas supply store to refill my tank.

Should probably prioritize that one :p

Got my rear doors open today, they were rusted shut.

The inside of the drivers side door.
Those nuts need to come off.
I've already broken the release lever off as it was rusted solid.

One nut actually came off!
I had to pound a smaller socket onto it, but it came off.
The other two nuts were rustier and rounded off.
I snuck an angle grinder in there and carefully didn't lose a finger.

New latch in the drivers side rear door :boogie:

One nut came off the passenger door, and another broke the stud clean off.
I tried to get an even smaller socket on this with no luck.

The passenger rear door was in worse shape, but came apart easier.
I had an access hole!

Flexing the release lever back and forth until it broke.

Current state of trailer:

Unloaded and stacked the wood on pallets.
Backed the truck in near a shady spot.
That's the oak stump at the rear of the trailer.

Some of those boards were well over 300 lbs.

I was going to go 2 logs high, but the stack would have been over 6'.
Smaller finished boards on the bottom so they dry straight.

Somewhere in the last few weeks a neighbor was taking down a shed.
I let him toss it in the dump trailer so I could salvage lumber.
This is what's left.

Used a pneumatic nail punch to drive nails out.
Wish I had gotten one sooner!

The vinyl siding will go into a cover for the oak boards to keep direct sun and rain off them.

whenever i think my daytona is 2 rusty 2 go on, i see plasmatic posts w/ his gear and i'm like "wow i still have a lot of rust 2 go"

Hjauled this off yesterday.

Stopped driving it before pandemic and before the parents health failed intending to replace the transmission and rehome it.
The transmission was starting to get flakey and I had nicer garbage to drive.
I had a spare transmission, just needed to do the work.
Sometime after parking it the alternator locked up and a brake line rusted through.
Noticed that a while ago when moving it.
I have an alternator and brake line for it.
I realized I was never going to fix it and got rid of it.
A fuel return line was also leaking while I was chopping the cat out.
Started right up even after breaking the catalytic converter out.
I gave her a few parting revs and a black cat ran out from under it!

This guy was a loyal servant to the end.
Had all the goodies Chrysler offered including a sun roof and heated seats.

Today I drove 3.5 hours away into Chicago land and picked this 4 Runner up.
This handsome fellow also has everything Toyota had to offer when it was built.

Also a free whatever the hell this thing is.

The entire load for your consideration.

Getting the thing out of the truck alone was entertaining.
Tomorrow I'll figure out what the hell it is.

Driving took a little longer than expected, as conditions were less than ideal.
WTF CANADA!

jfc get rid of that ching chang chong moped and get urself some ~your automobile's extended warranty~ moped from india (i.e. kinetic)

Forgot to post this back in the beginning of July, but 3 of the 6 spring hangers for the axles were ripped off the dump trailer and rewelded just enough to get it down the road for auction.

Seriously, they welded over just one of the broken factory welds for each bracket.

Thanks previous owner. :fu:

I noticed when the rear spring hanger on the drivers side came loose.
QdsRn8y.jpg

Check out that hairy caterpillar weld!
qMxO3Vf.jpg

I pulled the bracket off and sawed the caterpillar off.
uY2dBeZ.jpg

Then I noticed the damn bracket was broken too!
2FfYWd1.jpg

Rammed an assortment of giant concrete and pry bars into it to straighten it.
7uVFyPa.jpg

Welded the break together and set up to re-attach it to the trailer.
SObGjmX.jpg

Not pretty, but I welded all 4 edges and wrapped the corners. Took a couple of passes with my 110v wire feed welder.
b2nvWE9.jpg

Similar story with the pivot between the axles. Was ripped completely off in an accident, then lazily re-attached with a shit weld.
yEaEAC4.jpg

I left it in place and ground out the garbage welds with a grinder and cut off wheel.
Welded and painted.

Safety!
I got an air jack over the summer too :rocker:
imuvQuW.jpg

The rear spring mount on the other side was also held together with a single caterpillar, so I fixed it too.
Climbing around under the raised box was unnerving.
Yes I had the safety leg up so I wouldn't completely die if the hydraulics failed.

Next job was cleaning out the body shop sheet metal.
F4xUaeb.jpg

Did I mention I made walls for the trailer?
The 2x4's came out of the neighbors shed, rest is decking board.

Played ball with this handsome boy later that night.

I just hjauled all of my shit in a 20ft U-Hjual with a jeep on a tow trailer from PDX to TX. Nice drive across ID/UT/CO/NM. Bit chilly sleeping in it in a couple of stops. It was 27 in UT. Settling in. Glad to be done with the Portland chapter of life. At the new place I can hear the sound of trains and HS football games. Reminds me of where I grew up.

Damn, that's a 30 hour drive brother! Did they send the welcome freedom eagle yet? Where are you set up now, and we'll need to see your desk.

Dallas area. So pleasant to be around regular people. It will take a bit to decompress from PDX :)
