Forgot to post this back in the beginning of July, but 3 of the 6 spring hangers for the axles were ripped off the dump trailer and rewelded just enough to get it down the road for auction.
Seriously, they welded over just one of the broken factory welds for each bracket.
Thanks previous owner.
I noticed when the rear spring hanger on the drivers side came loose.
Check out that hairy caterpillar weld!
I pulled the bracket off and sawed the caterpillar off.
Then I noticed the damn bracket was broken too!
Rammed an assortment of giant concrete and pry bars into it to straighten it.
Welded the break together and set up to re-attach it to the trailer.
Not pretty, but I welded all 4 edges and wrapped the corners. Took a couple of passes with my 110v wire feed welder.
Similar story with the pivot between the axles. Was ripped completely off in an accident, then lazily re-attached with a shit weld.
I left it in place and ground out the garbage welds with a grinder and cut off wheel.
Welded and painted.
Safety!
I got an air jack over the summer too
The rear spring mount on the other side was also held together with a single caterpillar, so I fixed it too.
Climbing around under the raised box was unnerving.
Yes I had the safety leg up so I wouldn't completely die if the hydraulics failed.
Next job was cleaning out the body shop sheet metal.
Did I mention I made walls for the trailer?
The 2x4's came out of the neighbors shed, rest is decking board.
Played ball with this handsome boy later that night.
