I'd rather watch an Arya spinoff, despite them making her a god and having nothing left to do with her character.
How about adapting something that has a proper ending and isn't left half finished?
Do you go to an NHL game to watch pro all-stars begin the game only to have them leave the arena after the first period so the local farm team can take over and finish the rest of the game?

In the case of LOTR, you have a bunch of unaccomplished nobodies with zero writing credit to their names trying to sell us on the idea that they can write Middle Earth just as good as the revered literary scholar and accomplished linguist, JRR Tolkien. Do they seriously think they are going to write dialog and prose better than the guy who invents languages and crafts poetry as an academic hobby? Not only are a bunch of novices attempting to reproduce Tolkien's work from scratch, they are going around claiming they can (and will) improve it... they'll "fix it" by updating Middle Earth for the modern day. It'll be an better Middle Earth than Tolkien created.
Amazon has spent a half billion dollars dressing up the kids of the local high school athletic club in NFL branded colors and promised us the "Super Bowl" of High Fantasy lore .

TheOneRing.net already tried inferring that Tolkien would have supported LGBT+ despite being a devout catholic... so, I think it's a safe bet Amazon will make the attempt to shoe-horn it into the narrative.
