[SO] The government is shut down...

A model republican I see, can't even keep his own finances in order and makes extravagant excuses with multiple edits to explain then, then tries to tell everyone else how to be fiscally responsible

watch the sharks swim.......

the tolerant and progressive mindset exposed for exactly what it is.

petty, cruel, and intolerable to the idea of someone losing a loved one and their relatives being stuck with their minor expenses. oddly enough this is their justification for why we so desperately need socialized healthcare.

oh the irony.

So it's a tax corporations have to pay, but it's specifically geared towards healthcare?

How about just increasing corporate taxes and not say where the money is going, but channel it into healthcare anyway, does that take away the "corporate welfare" stigma for you?

what are you talking about?

The government is requiring people to buy insurance from private companies. There isn't just one big company called "Healthcare Inc." there are competing companies all owned by different people.

Universal healthcare works in every other 1st world country, why not the USA as well?

I really, honestly, don't get why people are against it.

I also don't get what people have against higher taxes, less choice over their own lives/decisions, and longer wait times.

Sounds like an epic deal to me.

Either people (dead or alive), corporations and governments should pay their debts or they shouldn't. There is no "try"

Yeah.......says the country 17 trillion in immediate national debt.

126 trillion in the hole through unfunded liabilities.

Individually $16k in the hole in credit card debt.

And owes hundreds of thousands of dollars on both their home and student loan debt.

I'll keep that in mind the next time someone demands payment for a service that I do my best to cancel but can't because it is in another persons name and despite sending them a death certificate continue to charge me (the administrator of the estate) for it anyways.

As compassionate, progressives, mock me for expenses that are not mine while they simultaneously demand more of other peoples money to pay for shit that only they want. What a hilariously hypocritical world we live in.

it also fines people for not having health care

but increasing taxes at all pisses off republicans so either way they wont have it

too bad it's already signed into law

Our government sucks at big "social" programs. Fraud is rampant among welfare, EBT, SNAP, etc, and nobody is doing anything about it. The VA has provided healthcare to veterans for decades and it's a circus -- and we're talking disabled & retired vets, you'd think of all people those are the ones we'd want to provide excellent care. Our economy is in the tank and it's going to be worse when the toothpicks holding it up finally give way. Social Security is a total disaster.

Even if the feds copied the Canadian healthcare system line by line, word for word, they'd still find a way to fuck it up. There's a lot of distrust of our government and it has been very well-earned.

Maybe you guys have it better in Oz, I dunno.

slavery was once signed into law, and women and blacks weren't allowed to vote. Thankfully people stood up and got that changed. (well I dunno about allowing women to vote, that seems like a bad idea now) ;)

if its a law its legit......just like slavery was.

and nothing beats fining someone for not having something they already cant afford. that's a brilliant solution........

Im calling it now that Captain Tele is actually a Democrat pretending to be a completely backwards Republican to make fun of their party.

Not paying any of his bills is the icing on the cake

maybe we should stand up and sign a universal health care bill into law instead of this obamacare thing

also lol @ people comparing health care law to slavery

they were obstructionists and terrorists.......who should have been charged with treason and sentenced to a firing line.

I hate religious fundamentalists almost as much as regressives........

but nobody can continually troll in the realm of stupid quite like you.

making fun of the death of others loved ones.....while simultaneously preaching tolerance, humanity and altruistic behavior (through other peoples money) is your Arc de Triomphe of achievements. It shows just how much you truly care about your fellow man and their plight as you push for Socialism and Universal Healthcare.

They can't take your money, only that of the estate. You don't want to pay to maximize your inheritance?

car insurance is mandatory
home insurance is mandatory if you have a mortgage

both to private companies
wheres the outrage

we should nationalize oil and gas and dig ourselves out of debt tbh
fuck it

Captain Tele: mad at the government for not paying their bills, while he never pays his bills.

PAY YOUR BILLS

You don't "have to have" a car or a house. You DO have to have health insurance according to the government.

That's not really how the tax credit works, but ok.

Sounds like you've really put a lot of effort into accurately understanding ACA and how it impacts you. :bigthumb:

405% of the poverty level qualifies you for $0 in tax credits.

The generic ACA calculators all show that I would actually pay less in premiums, have less insurance, and more out-of-pocket expenses. I would go from 80/20 to either 60/40 or 70/30, and lose vision and dental.

When I ran the California exchange, and put it on Gold (80/20), which I'm not guaranteed, it shows my premium going up by another $1500 over what I'm currently paying, and the OOP is higher, and once again - no vision/dental. I did this to show as equal a comparison as possible.

If there's some magical that I'm missing, let me know.
