screws are for chumps, I'm not polluting my board with cold steel
Those fins went in really tight, I was worried I was going to snap the tail off, I almost took the sandpaper to them but then thought a tight fit is probably good. A bit of vaseline a good wriggle back and forth and slid the tip in and out a few times and they finally slid in (like always)

I'm going to hold them in with my chakra or something and then I'm going to hang 10 and be totally gnarly and tubular dude


Also going to hunt down Torren Martyn and force him to teach me how to surf like he does

So I finally got my board wet today :sunny:

Problem is there was no surf whatsoever, so I went to an awesome local wave park instead. Turns out you can't use hard boards in the mong zone where I need to be so I took out a softboard instead, but at least I got to surf.

The place is unbelievable, it has amazing waves!
This means I can get top quality, consistent waves at any time of the year, after work, in the dark, whenever, only 45 mins from home. That's going to be great for learning properly.

Later on I went down the beach and paddled around on my own board so it has at least been in the salt and I can start getting a feel for it.


Main thing I discovered is my paddling arms need about 5 years of training on them b/c I'm like limp noodles after 10 minutes

I've never surfed at a wave park. I've heard Aus is building some great ones!
45 min from home sounds convenient.
I've been surfing a lot over the last year and my strength is up. Many times, when the waves are down for a week or more, I'll take my board out for a long paddle just to keep my paddling power up.
We've had waves here for over a week. Chest to a couple feet overhead. Yesterday I surfed over 3 hours and had a blast with a handful of guys out.
Should have been out there this morning but was up to late last night at a family party with bandas and Don Julio 1942...(no, I can't afford that stuff, but someone else could)

But I'm kicking myself as I write this watching good waves roll in,,
For sure going out tomorrow

It is pretty shallow, all concrete and fairly rough on boards.

A lot of people there ride soft boards so it makes me feel a lot safer rather than killing my nice one

Also my daughter really wants to start surfing but my short board is not suitable for her, she will be able to stand on this without even being on a wave, easy to push in and learn :)

you'll be happy to know I have been out every weekend by 7 am, freezing my ass off and by the feel of it - developing arthritis in my big toe joints

New board arrived today, passed muster with the wife so all is well
Not able to take it out yet as it is almost dark once I get home from work, will have to wait until the weekend.

absolutely the best wetsuit I have ever owned.
I wore a 5/3 two weeks ago and was chilly. Wore my new liquid seam 3/2 last week and it was like being wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket all morning :sunny: apart from my feet :(

and weirdly, these guys have close links to Simon Jones and Torren Martyn, which is odd, it's like I am stalking them somehow

i didn't even look at it

My wife was trying to get my brother-in-law to work on it,
and he was,
but then he became busy working on trucks...

so there it sits and I'm not going to bring it up
cause I don't really need it, just would be cool
maybe I should work on....

I've been working on and getting the Jeep Liberty 4x4 running well and finally got a great mechanic for it. Took it on the beach and barely needs the mid 2x4 setting.... 4x4 works great.
