Washington Post Op-ed: ‘Give the Elites a Bigger Say in Choosing the President’
The Washington Post is taking criticism for an op-ed published Tuesday by Marquette University political science professor Julia Azari, titled: “It’s time to give the elites a bigger say in choosing the president.”

Citing the “rocky start” to the Democratic Party’s presidential primary, Azari suggests that the process of choosing the nominee be taken from the people and returned to the politicians:
The current process is clearly flawed, but what would be better? … A better primary system would empower elites to bargain and make decisions, instructed by voters.

One lesson from the 2020 and 2016 election cycles is that a lot of candidates, many of whom are highly qualified and attract substantial followings, will inevitably enter the race. The system as it works now — with a long informal primary, lots of attention to early contests and sequential primary season that unfolds over several months — is great at testing candidates to see whether they have the skills to run for president. What it’s not great at is choosing among the many candidates who clear that bar, or bringing their different ideological factions together, or reconciling competing priorities. A process in which intermediate representatives — elected delegates who understand the priorities of their constituents — can bargain without being bound to specific candidates might actually produce nominees that better reflect what voters want.

Sanders vs. Bloomberg Scenario Is Like a Jewish Joke Turned Ominously Real
Both profiles are favorite fares of most anti-Semites: The bloodsucking Jewish capitalist vs. the revolutionary Jewish anarchist

[...]

The fact that Bernie Sanders is now the frontrunner in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination is a milestone in American Jewish history in and of itself. The possibility, if not yet probability, that in the final showdown Sanders could face Michael Bloomberg is American Jewish history gone berserk. As the Eagles noted in “Hotel California,” “This could be heaven or this could be hell” – but the odds are in favor of the latter.

The fact that two Jewish Americans are serious contenders to be nominated as presidential candidate by a major U.S. party is testament to the prominence and acceptance of what is undoubtedly the greatest Jewish Diaspora, pardon the expression, of the modern era. It comes at a time, however, when the same Jewish community is feeling exceptionally vulnerable and anti-Semitism is on the rise – particularly in the rival political camp. If either Sanders or Bloomberg face off against Donald Trump, an anti-Semitic surge on the white right – from the White House down – is almost inevitable.

Federal Judge Orders Illinois to Allow Transgender Inmates to Choose Their Prison

A federal judge has ordered the Illinois prison system to allow transgender prisoners to pick their own prisons, a report says.

The order from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois demands that the Illinois Department of Corrections must make a number of changes to its procedures for placing prisoners.

The order handed down by Judge Nancy (((Rosenstengel))) mandates that the IDC must “ensure timely hormone therapy is provided when necessary and perform routine monitoring of hormone levels” for transgender prisoners.

The ruling also mandated that the state must stop “mechanically assigning housing based on genitalia and/or physical size or appearance.”
[...]

The Obama appointee also demanded that the state implement “individualized placement determinations, avoidance of cross-gender strip searches, and access to gender-affirming clothing and grooming items.”

“The Court recognizes that these changes will take time, but it in light of the serious deficiencies in IDOC’s treatment of transgender inmates set forth above, the undersigned seeks assurance that progress is underway,” the judge added. “There is a long way to go, and the issue must be promptly addressed.”

Naturally, the ACLU was thrilled with the demands.

Female prisoner claims she was raped by transgender inmate, sues prison
A female inmate at the Logan Correctional Centre in Illinois is suing the prison after alleging they attempted to cover up her sexual assault by a transgender inmate that was housed with her.

The proceedings were covered by Public Broadcasting Service station WTTW, who reported the victim, referred to as Jane Doe, was sexually assaulted in June 2019. Doe alleges she was then coerced by a correctional officer into withdrawing her claim, which led to her being punished for having filed a false report under the Prison Rape Elimination Act.

Doe’s alleged assailant is named as Janiah Monroe, a transgender inmate who identifies as female but has male genitalia. According to WTTW, Monroe and another transgender inmate recently sued the Illinois Department of Corrections, demanding transfers to women’s facilities. Monroe, formerly known as Andre Patterson, had been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the attempted murder of a government employee, before receiving an additional 20 years for murdering a cellmate after being imprisoned.

Globalist Magazine: Less Migration Makes Americans Richer, Economy Stronger
Lower migration is driving up blue collar wages, and those extra wages are stabilizing the U.S. economy, says the Economist magazine, which serves as a community newspaper for globalist elites.

The admission of rising prosperity comes in a sour-toned February 13 article, and is buried under multiple warnings about future disasters:
There are nonetheless scraps of evidence that some workers are benefiting from America’s growing antipathy to immigrants. Gordon Hanson of Harvard University suggests that if the impact of reduced low-skill migration is showing up anywhere, it will be in three particular occupations: housekeepers, building-and-grounds maintenance workers, and drywall installers. These occupations rely heavily on immigrant labour and the services they provide cannot be traded internationally. Average wages in those occupations are rising considerably faster than wages in other low-paid jobs, according to calculations by The Economist.
The Economist article is headlined “Delayed reaction: Immigration to America is down. Wages are up.”

It provides more good news — that President Donald Trump’s Hire America’ policy is even boosting wages in the midwest:
Intriguing evidence also shows up geographically. According to research by William Frey of the Brookings Institution, a think-tank, five big metro areas saw absolute declines in their foreign-born populations in 2010-18. Wages in those areas are now rising by 5% a year, according to our calculations. Cleveland, which is in one such area, has pockets of severe poverty but seems to be doing better than before. Many of the city centre’s astonishingly grand buildings are being converted into luxury lofts for millennials.

i mean supply vs. demand

basic economics

who gets paid more:

100 people fighting for 1 job

100 jobs fighting for 1 person

I mean this is the things we should be seeing people debate on

but the answer is already known

it is about how to lie to ourselves and others

convince ourselves that reality isn't real if we distort everything else hard enough

can beat the corners of a square to more resemble a circle

the amount of money our government still spends on studies to prove basic truths baffles me......then regardless of what they conclude they don't listen to any of it anyways.

ICE Agents Tell Calif Gov to Kiss Their A$$es And Arrest Illegals Inside the Courthouse
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — U.S. immigration agents arrested two people at a Northern California courthouse, including a man detained in a hallway on his way to a hearing, flouting a new state law requiring a judicial warrant to make immigration arrests inside such facilities.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents made the arrests Tuesday at Sonoma County Superior Court, prompting an outcry from criminal justice and court officials who said the action undermines local authority and deters immigrants who are in the country illegally from participating in the U.S. justice system.

ICE said California’s law doesn’t supersede federal law and “will not govern the conduct of federal officers acting pursuant to duly-enacted laws passed by Congress that provide the authority to make administrative arrests of removable aliens inside the United States.”

“Our officers will not have their hands tied by sanctuary rules when enforcing immigration laws to remove criminal aliens from our communities,” David Jennings, ICE’s field office director in San Francisco, said in the statement.

California is one of several states that have passed laws to push back on a Trump administration policy introduced two years ago to make immigration arrests inside courthouses. Last year, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law to prohibit immigration arrests at courthouses without a warrant issued by a judge.
