[Iran] Hmm...why would they be interested in civilian nuclear power?

The economies of many big oil-exporting countries are growing so fast that their need for energy within their borders is crimping how much they can sell abroad, adding new strains to the global oil market.

Experts say the sharp growth, if it continues, means several of the world’s most important suppliers may need to start importing oil within a decade to power all the new cars, houses and businesses they are buying and creating with their oil wealth.

Indonesia has already made this flip. By some projections, the same thing could happen within five years to Mexico, the No. 2 source of foreign oil for the United States, and soon after that to Iran, the world’s fourth-largest exporter. In some cases, the governments of these countries subsidize gasoline heavily for their citizens, selling it for as little as 7 cents a gallon, a practice that industry experts say fosters wasteful habits.

Shit, I had no idea there wasn't enough oil to go around once everybody started to industrialize. It is a very new, foreign concept to me; one which I've never heard mentioned in any way before. This is why we need to put more money into the military and put more effort into destroying the lives and economies of third world peoples. Those resources are OURS because it is OUR lifestyle, not theirs.

Fucking bandwagon oil country "industrialists" are ruining our Great American Way.

well
technically
we are the 3rd largest nation in the world.
Also, in terms of oil use per capita, canada uses more oil than we do

Iran can't really convert their crude into fuel. Nuclear energy is any nation's sovereign right, if you have the money, materials, and manpower; you can try to split uranium. Iran has been busted for developing a secret program, so their credibility is shot. Worse, they refuse to recognize Israel, a country which has no friends in the region and must constantly fight to defend their territory (who has nukes).

Israel has no credibility either.

There was a free-bike experiment thing in my town - there were yellow bikes around the town intended for us to use and ride around and return.....all the blacks in the town over stole all of them : (

Israel has the credibility of fighting at least 2 times every 10 years for the past 60. Their win percentage is ridiculous. They justify offensive war, preventive war, they never defer to international opinion. Israel bombed Iraq when they had whiff of a nuclear program.

We refused to listen to Saddam Hussein in the final hours leading up to the war because we needed other countries to understand that when we say we will invade in 24 hrs unless we receive unconditional surrender, we mean it. That is credibility on the international stage.

Israel has as much credibility as the US does, perhaps more so.

your posts make my head squirm in a bad way Gallium

i cant tell if you're being pro or against anyone

Israel has as much credibility as the US -- maybe more. Clearly, this makes Israel the most credible country on the face of the earth.

Israel has a clandestine nuclear weapons program and does not abide by U.N. resolutions. Hypocrites.

Israel has had to deal with every country surrounding it promising to invade since it's inception, and even before. They fight to secure their land. That is reality for the middle east, has been for a long time.

America is over there to secure energy reserves and update our military for the 21st century. Look at the CIA national estimates from the 50's-70's, this has been a long time coming, and we are positioned well to accomplish goals we set a long time ago with a minimal loss of life.

To some, better 15000 troops over 30 years than 150000 troops in 5.
