Why does it take a local news station in Atlanta to investigate the border?

The Americans will always do the right thing . . . After they've exhausted all the alternatives.

This isn't new. Because, in case you haven't figured it out, this country is governed via media spotlight. the media (local or national) decides what to report, decides how important to make it sound, people get all riled up, and the useless politicians move like a slow herd in that direction. by the time they get there the problem is either so bad it can't be fixed, or the media / populace has moved on to the next big story, that requires the herd of politicians to move from the prior hot topic to the new one (without having fixed anything, but continually justifying large budgetary increases).
