For instance, I think that (in a surprise twist) Malmsteen quite honestly has more skill than Santana, but I hate his music. Plus, I don't think that he is enough of a creator -- he is ungodly fast, but that doesn't necessarily make him better, in the same way that skating faster doesn't guarantee the gold in figure skating.

And it's so unfair to put the really good people together -- like BB and EC.
They and SRV -- and I'll throw in Hendrix given that all of the rockers on that list owe him everything they ever did with a guitar -- are head and shoulders above everyone else in the list.With that said.

Because every electric blues artist there owes it to BB, every rocker there owes it to Hendrix, every 'edgy' 90's rock hit owes their sound to Nirvana, everyone is still trying to catch up to SRV (and everyone in the business knows that he was the best), Carlos Santana is *pretty* good, but Malmsteen's music is uninspired so Santana wins, and Jerry Garcia is just fucking cool.

Reminds me -- there's a solo of Classical Gas out there on KaZaA that's labelled as EC -- it's Mason.
Some fucker named it 'Eric Clapton Classical Gas'. The only relation EC has EVER had to that song was to include it in a made-for-tv movie he was music producer for, but he dint play it.OH MY FUCKING GOD.
