I've put about 50k miles on airplanes carrying a variety of laptop bags. The best bags I've ever seen are the ones made by Swiss Army.

You go see them at a luggage store, computer stores are too cheap to carry the good stuff.

My buddy carries the Web Mobilizer Plus and it's awesome. Can be a roll around or a should strapped bag. They also make back pack versions with and without rollers.
