Waterboarding

Have any of you college dudes ever tried this with your frat buddies? what was the experience like? did you really feel as if you were drowning?

i really dont see what the big hoopla is over waterboarding. it seems like its just another way to scare someone, and i dont really think thats torture.

but then again, ive never had a bunch of drunk frat buddies strip me and tie me down to a board and pour water on my face.

FUCK YEAH!!

I've known plenty of boat owners who did this. They say it's awesome fun. As far as safety goes, just wear a lifejacket and you're good to go. Some folks wear goggles because of the spray.

I see people out on the Ohio river doing it all the time.

drunk frat buddies /= interrogation specialists who keep you locked up in a cell

My definition of torture is pretty simplistic. Can I take 5 minutes of it with nothing but pride on the line. If not, its torture. Torture is outlawed by the US government, therefore US government officials cannot do it. Thats pretty much it for me.

I don't think terrorists are deserving of protections against such treatment. But we define them as criminals, and criminals deserve habeus corpus and to not be tortured. If we define terrorists properly as illegal combatants and remove the laws against torture, I probably wouldn't care much.

but isnt being locked in a little steel cell torture?

maybe we should let all the criminals go, so they don't get their feelings hurt.

unless you actually feel your life is as risk and it is a surprise, don't think you're actually mirroring the technique.

and dont try it.

Sounds fun...

btw, he is talking about Waterboarding, not Wakeboarding. Two different things. The CIA uses waterboarding as an interrogation technique.

The law isnt there just for people we like. Our morality and principles arent there just for people we like and when it's expedient. This is what our guys are fighting for... right?

Most of the people sent to Gitmo were not terrorists or even real enemy. FACT.

Now, my belief is based on what the experts and military guys tell us: torture doesn't get us quality information. And we cannot use anything obtained outside the terms of the law... in a court of law.

So, once you start fucking it up... you fuck up prosecution like dominoes for many, many others. It's a dark road of self-justifying lawless behavior.

As i've said many times... i support a "jack bauer" style intervention as needed, if absolutely 100% fucking required to stop an emergency. However, that should NOT be policy. That is ILLEGAL and those who take such actions must be held accountable.

More bluntly.

If you find real al qaeda assholes in a bunker... kill the fuckers, don't bring them back and compromise our law system. JUST FUCKING KILL THEM. Thanks.
