Use Trigger Functionallity

Ok... I'm stumped.
I'm hoping that someone out there knows something about how to get a use trigger to work properly in Multiplayer. Specifically, I need a button that lowers a force field temporarily.

Thanks to someone I've been talking to, about 90% of the work has already been put together. Unfortunatly he had to resort to using a shoot trigger to make things happen and when it's replaced with a use, nothing happens. The shoot is just not acceptable for what I need (this ain't Quake!). I would rather avoid using area triggers as well.

If anyone has some info to pass along, PLEASE do so!

Single player used those fancy control panels, which even showed a message and a nice use reticle. They could trigger a whole lot of events at once. I think they use the some .int file and refer to that, since the events arent called by the actor itself. How to set this up and if this will work in multiplayer is a mistery. Any devs around?
