I am going from standard HDD to SSD. I got this one...

Amazon.com: Crucial MX100 512GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal Solid State Drive CT512MX100SSD1: Computers & Accessories

my old HD was gettin buggy and dumb.

Tried to install windows, says windows cannot be installed on this computers hardware.

Here is what was installed before I got the SSD...

I want to say it was Raid 0. I had two 500 gig HD's that made 1 TB.

I tried to load some update for newer hard drives but it didn't take.

Next is I swtiched it from IDE to AHCI or whatever...

Right now I am seeing it it will take this time. Windows is currently installing as we speak.

Off the top of your head what would you do to get this going?

What am i doing wrong.

ps i am a homo

1) are you trying to keep your raid0 setup
2) are you plugging your sata drives into a raid controller or the motherboard
3) if motherboard, does your mobo have any raid options in the bios

no i am not trying to keep the raid0

*edit*

BTW in "RAID Mode" in the BIOS setup it is currently configured to RAID.

So I am trying to do a clean install and use the SSD only. Since I am no longer using the two HD's together I no longer need to use Raid 0 in my BIOS configuration. I am supposed to use ahci or whatever.

The PC recognizes the SSD when I am in BIOS and when Windows is looking for a partition to install on. I am le dumb and don't know what I am doing. I thought this would be pretty cut and dry.

so you have the old HDDs disconnected entirely?

do you have the SSD plugged into one of the black SATA ports? the white ones are probably some secondary controller that you don't want to use. Also could be a good idea to put it in the #1 or #2 port

does the install error not give any more information?

Yes the old HDD's are not connected anymore.

I have the SSD hooked up on the top 1-3 port

The error message at the time just said Windows cannot be installed on this PC's hardware and that was it.

However I seem to have dug myself into a pit for messing with the BIOS and now it won't boot from anything. I think I may have to throw in the towel on this one. Aiy nai.

You should clear the CMOS by pressing the tiny button on the back panel between the keyboard and optical audio ports. Do it with the system OFF.

Swap the SATA cable for your new SSD to the white connector, as it is the only 6GB/sec controller.

okay, didn't mention the reset button would reset the bios. looked like just a normal system reset function in the manual.
His motherboard also has an onboard power and system reset button too, but the one on the back panel performs the same function as the jumper near the battery.

sometimes if the drive can be seen when u set it to IDE mode u can install windows that way and then use one of the wierd hacks to change to AHCI post-install

Lou Cypher wins the game. I am currently talking to you all on my newly installed SSD.

Give me a host so I can upload some HD porn for you all tonight when I get back from work. It has Ava Addams in it and it has her boobs recorded in high speed. o_O
