It's not useless, I actually like it better than T2.

It's passive constantly gives you a little bit of damage reduction... and the active mode has saved me from what would have been 3 instant mortar deaths. And I've only been playing for a few hours.

I've heard both: "The shield pack is useless" and "The shield pack is overpowered" now, so that must mean it's pretty damn well balanced.

The shield pack only lasts for about 2 seconds, I remember the t1/t2 one being like 30-40 seconds.
