no because you disrupt production servers paid for by other people without their permission so you can practice php. Regardless of what you are investigating you can do so in a controlled enviornment and come forward with your findings without having to piss people off in process.

why would you crash tribes servers to "learn" php? the only thing attempting to do that is good for is maybe to learn how to use UDP under php which is practically useless under most cases.

I made that from pure scratch too.

Another point, lucidesite.net seems to be built using php, even though not complete yet it seems to contradict a little of what your trying to say about "learning" php

edit: new point: If your really have a brain, you wouldnt give out your "personal" domain because people (like me) can trace it back to the owner (like you). because of that i have quite a bit of doubt that lucidsite.net is truely yours. If it is, your pretty god damn screwed.

I think this is more of an attention thing. He brought it up here to gain massive respect from everyone, knowing fully well all he did was copy some lame exploit, that's simple to detect, and probably copy and pasted most of that site as well.

Amazing. Very impressive. Parsing the master server list? Oh wow, convert hex to decimal! The complications here are simply amazing.

This shit's all been done before. 5 years ago, to be exact, when there wasn't any documentation on the Tribes protocol or any other apps/scripts/documents out there that would make it a cinch for any idiot to do something like this.
 
you know, i said this stuff in the open because i didn't feel i had anything to hide... and i still don't. i have nothing to prove, and noone to answer to. i was merely joining in the conversation here to let ppl know why they saw what they saw in their logs. if somebody got a problem with it, too bad, its in the past and already done. one can't undo the past. its not like the game wasn't dead 2 years ago anyway, no harm done. good luck everyone...

In other words, if i go kill your family, then your children (if you have any). Start by skinning them alive with a red-hot knife. Then slowly boiling them in salt, i can get away with it by saying "Whats done is done, its all in the past."?

Also the game is not dead, yes the community is shrinking but the game isnt dead. I see new people come in every now and then to prove that point. Otherwise by your definition, near-extinct species are extinct. Near dead people are dead. Near fail is fail.

Third of all, you are crashing a server. It is just as bad as writing a worm to slow down the internet that uses an exploit in a common software. With that, you were not given explicit permission to "crash" our servers.

it doesn't work, i changed it so people won't wreak havok on the unpatched servers.

i'm not really looking for any respect from people online. i don't need it. i didn't post my personal info so that you all can say wow look at him or what have you. i was simply claiming responsibility for my actions, even if they were good or bad. what can i do, you know? i have no need to hide behind a monitor, i did what i did, and its over. as x66 mentioned, connecting to the master server and writing simple loops to iterate through a list while parsing its contents is very simple. there should be no respect in that, its an everyday thing.

anyway, whether the game is dead or not is subject to debate i suppose, i just remember how it was years back. it doesn't feel like that anymore you know?
 
Duh, Tribes is 5 years old for goodness' sake. But considering all the other games that came out in the last 5 years, I think Tribes is doing just fine.

Void|deadjawa, lemme explain my comment, I'll use happy mod as an example. Does nothing special, what so ever, ruins the game for many people and it was released to the public.

Most people that play Tribes, with integrity, probably hate the guy for releasing something like that. Yet, here at TW, it's very welcomed. The guy has gained much respect from this community, people think he's a bad ass... yada yada....

Obviously, my comment was based off the same notion.
