[So]Study concludes brits suck at taking care of teeth[Shockface]

Actually, most peoples teeth are worse today than in roman times. It's quite funny.. you can see ancient skulls with quite healthy teeth in them, right up until the introduction of refined sugar... at which point, everyone's teeth started falling out. No sugar in your diet, and your chompers will be perfectly happy for a very very long time.

Also... (Americans in particular, I'm looking at you here) teenage bracers and Game Show Host bleached white is not the same as healthy. Pretty? Sure. Healthy? Not necessarily.. and if you're chemically whitening them, that's not a good thing for them.

I would have guessed starchy foods because they get stuck in your teeth. Sugar just dissolves.

And coca cola

There's bacteria in your mouth that feed on the sugar. They in turn excrete lactic acid, which eats away at the enamel.

Fun part is, brushing your teeth at that point can actually be a bad thing. The enamel is slightly softened, and brushing can actually scrub it away. Saliva will naturally neutralize the acid and stop the reaction though. So you're better off waiting an hour or so after a big sugar hit before you brush your teeth or you'll be scrubbing them away.

If you flush the sugar away with beer you can then create an impenetrable layer with ciggys

works for long health and happiness

but, alas, alcohol is a snare for the soul and a trap for the unwary and so we soldier on with our salvation just out of reach

we may be a nation of the congenitally dentally deformed but our hearts are pure :{

Yes but starch is harder to get out of your teeth and it seems like it would trap sugar for longer and/or be digested into sugar in your mouth for the bacteria to consume
