Anyway to reset the admin password in a totally legal way (besides reinstalling of course)? :D

boot up in knoppix

back up your shit and reformat.

or pull the drive.

passwords are overrated.

get BART PE, i believe you can use that to reset passwords. Its a windows version of knoppix, pretty much, so its a live cd, and comes with a bunch of diagnostic tools.

What you need is the Ultimate Boot CD at http://www.ubcd4win.com/. The list of tools can be found here but it has what you need already integrated. No need to buy any $99+ programs for one password renew. I've done it multiple times across many machines, works great.

"why" "so" "many" "quotes" "?" "?"

i used the shiz from winternals a LOOONG time ago on a NT 4 forgotten password problem. the nice thing back then was that we had the system partition on a fat32 drive, so we could mount it using dos, rather then a bootable floppy that would mount an ntfs drive. i think if the system partition is on an ntfs partition, its a bunch harder. or not, if those wizards have better software by now.

$149 from their site... hope its worth it.
