New computer and parts are coming, CPU is a dual core.

Now is the dual core functionality built into the mobo or do i need a special OS like Vista to accommodate, or is XP fine?
 
You have to purchase a special Single-to-Dual core adapter that only fits in an ISA slot to get dual core on XP.

You also need an MFM cable to connect power button to the adapter otherwise the comp will not turn on.
