Yes, lead. Can't seem to find a boot large enough. I'll re solder the lower edge where is't split and fill in some holes.

Don't bother. Waste of your labor.

Buy a 5" flashing. We refer to them as O-25 vent flashing so they might be called something else where you are. Got to make sure it has the base and the top.

Prime and paint them and they will last for a very long time.

You can get trick ones like below

Those are expensive though.

I'm not entirely sure that would work, even if I could find it somewhere. I think my stack might be too tall.

These stupid things are everywhere, but just for metal roofs.

Please explain why you would build this platform, run an extension cord up to the roof, carry the compressor up to the roof......instead of running a longer air hose up there from a compressor that is safe on the ground?

I have two compressors in the garage. A giant 220 volt upright and a large 110v amp on wheels. This weighs 52 pounds and is easy enough to throw around. Easier to make a platform with scrap than put together another 100 feet of hose.

The cap for the 025 vent can come in different lengths. You can get double walled vent caps for water heater/furnace etc and those must go up a certain height (depending on your local city building code) and they make them in 5" or 6".

Also, if you are good with fabricating, you can alter the cap to fit the pipe.

What is the actual pipe? Is it steel, iron, copper or what? If it's copper or PVC, you can trim down the plumbing pipe to fit into the flashing. So, cut the lead off the top of that pipe 2" or 3", and then cut the pipe itself to fit into a cap of your choice.

When on the roof, you must be creative.
