radeon 9600 pro owners

what in the fuck, i install the newer drivers, omega or ati, and everything gets really slow and choppy.
i install the ones off the cd it came with, and its ok..

what in the fuck

what are the best drivers you have found for the 9600pro?
i have 128 meg one

Do not install the latest cats (4.9) on a 9600. Roll back to 4.8.

im currently getting shitty fps with it. (2.0 p4, 4x agp mobo only, 1 gb pc2700)

Check out this thread over at tomshardware. This guy posts benchmarks for every catalyst version and omega that comes out, and I believe he uses a bba 9600pro, its a pretty detailed account and should give you some idea of what is performing the best.
