Israel and turkey would be better choices for missile defense if we were worried about Iran
pakistan isn't a worry about sending a missile at europe (they'd just nuke india)
North Korea wouldn't be sending missiles to Europe (nor could they even come close to reaching europe) - missiles based in europe won't be able to shoot down north korean missiles headed for japan/alaska/south korea. Additionally if they were shooting them at Europe, you are talking ICBMs - which means there's no point in missile defense when the missile is already coming down

no arguing about that, but pretending that placing the defense in poland and other locations in eastern europe was anything but thumbing our noses at russia (particularly before putin actually started being a dick) is just silly

Putin wants a cold war badly to prop up his dictatorship as well as cement Russia's influence over border nations and western Europe. Then jack up prices on Russia's fuel exports to fund his war machine and keep the peasants in bread and circuses.

He is not a stupid man. Our government wants the same things, so this stupid shield thing will be pushed.

Putin's talking tough to appeal to Russian voters, no more than that.

There are a lot of reasons not to have a missile shield (it doesn't work) but because Putin says he doesn't like it isn't one of them.
