Today I traded one of my old lenses I never use anymore (Canon 70-200mm f4L IS) for a lens that I've been dieing to get for a long time: The Canon 35mm f1.4L. I couldn't be happier with it.
It's really just a personal style thing, but I find shooting at telephoto lengths to be awkward and uneasy.. I love the smaller stature of my lens. The 35mm is much more subtle and doesn't attract attention like a giant telephoto lens. The fixed focal length means I need to challenge myself more for the good shots, and it also means a sharper shot than I'd get with a zoom lens.
Anyway, I took it for a test drive today around Granville Island and Downtown Vancouver where I live. I'm sure the seemingly abundant TW-Vancouver population will recognize a lot of the locales.
Comments and criticism are always welcome. All these were taken with the new lens on my Canon 5D and most were edited for colour and contrast changes:

I love The Sidebar. Small, quiet, cheap beer, friendly people. Right across from my apartment tower!
