[PC] Laptop reset back to default system settings.

So.. 2 days ago I was done using my laptop, closed it, and let it sit there. Yesterday I open it back up, and it said "Prepairing your desktop.."
Ok.. wtf?
When it came back on, everything had gone and reset to system default. I checked my HD and its still full, as if I still have my music and videos on here. But I cant access them when I go into User\name\music and User\name\videos. It says theyre empty. So I just have a few questions...
1) How can I get my stuff back?
2) Why did this happen?
Im running Win Vista, and the last thing I DLed was Google Chrome..
Any ideas?
 
Start menu, in the search type "System Restore".

Or go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
 
your profile was corrupted and the system loaded the default profile (which is empty).

a lot of things could have caused it, but chances are that it was just an error and won't happen again.
