I hate foxnews now - as someone who voted republican last time around.

to be fair, i hated the liberals when bush was in office.

i'm finding myself pleased with my moderate stances on most issues... and dispointed with the lack of candidates for various offices that fall in line with true moderate agendas.
 
 
I didn't see links on ANY of the major news sites (CNN, MSNBC, or Fox).

And a search for "assault weapons ban" on the same sites all turned up the same link; however, in the case of Fox I did have to refine the search to "Today." Looks like their default search ranks pages by popularity, not date.

If he could press a button and put the AWB back into place he'd do it in a second... he obviously still would love to have the ban reinstated. It's obvious that the backlash and outcry steered him straight.
 
What'll happen is that it will come attached to some other piece of legislation (likely economic-related) that will be "too important" to veto.

Well that's a very realistic way to put it. There just aren't the votes for the AWB to be reinstated. Too many pro-gun Dem senators and the GOP would filibuster it until the cows come home. So why try and bring it up? It would only hurt him politically.

I'm not Obama bashing here at all, I'm just pointing out that it's more of a political reality based decision than one based on his personal gun control views. I'm glad he says he's not pushing for it but I'm not going to buy into the idea he's all pro-gun or anything.

That being said, the idea that the AWB would stop gun trafficking anywhere is so retarded. Mexican drug runners are getting their hands on fully auto weapons... the manufacturing of which has been banned in this country since 1986 . The AWB just banned guns that "look menacing" have bayonet lugs on them and clips with more than 10 rounds.

Of course it won't. Obama is most certainly an anti-gun liberal, but he's a realist too. Even the great Obamessiah has a limited amount of political capital and I'm sure he'd much rather expend it on moving economic and health policy left instead of wasting it on a futile gun legislation fight
