Occupy Los Angeles

Veteran X
Crowd of about 2,000

I arrived at 12:15 at City Hall. Checked out the crowd and speakers. Wide variety of groups represented. All the usual socialist, communist, and general workers rights groups. Anonymous showed up in full force, lots of Hispanic Ron Paul tards, and some yuppies too.

No police interventions. Not even a sniff. Police talked to security team, security team responded to problem already solved by the well behaved crowd.

I went with my photographer friend. I went to bring my DIY magazine to the event and invite them to join in its creation with a network of warehouses/communes throughout LA. To have one of our rotating magazine meeting locations at the Occupy LA camp. I could not find anyone representing the Print Media Assembly, I spent the whole day looking for the elusive "tall, blond, angelic looking" Kat.

Heard Ron Kovic speak very eloquently about what he thought of our movement for change. Everyone repeating what he said in three word snippets to stand in for a PA added a special touch.

I ended up speaking for the Print Media team at the general assembly. I just asked people to email their work or interest in volunteering to submissions@manifestmag.com

I'll be back tomorrow.

I have to work on Monday though, and no I'm not a barista.

He was actually surprisingly handsome. Either he got better, or Tom Cruise was overacting about his condition.

Not enough though that it didn't make me crack up to see that girl in the motorized wheel chair that looked very much like the one he was scooting around in.
