Non-booting computer with deleted NTFS partition.

Here is the long sad story:

1. Had Mepis loaded on 20 gig partition running GRUB as boot loader.
2. Went to remove MEPIS and GRUG; F'd my mbr.
3. Tried lots of methods to recover mbr (booted into recovery console about 60 times), ended up deleteing one partition and not getting windows to boot.

Here is the current situation.

My HDD setup is like this:

hdd0: 120gb, partitioned 20gb for WINDOWS, 100gb for FILES
hdd1: 160gb, partitioned 20gb for LINUX, 140gb for MEDIA.

Currently LINUX and FILES are deleted. FILES is recoverable (according to the demo version of Active @ Partition Recover (www.ntfs.com). However, that program is $30. I am looking for a way to recover this partiton and fix the MBR for free.

More info:

testdisk and gpart both tell me that hdd0 is just one 120gb primary partition. I think this is because my windows partition (20gb on hdd0) is Extended, not Primary. If anyone knows how to make a linux recovery utility see this drive correctly that would be awesome.

Sorry if this is convoluted; I've been up since 9 p.m. trying to fix this. Thanks in advance.
