Need help with virus

All my icons got back to their original names (*.lnk), and my computer will not open any type of file (be it exe or anything else). I can not access My Computer, nor any of the Control Panel modules.

I can, however, open most files using "open with..." (click any file, make it open by firefox for example, then say OK when I receive the message that firefox cant read the file...and firefox stays open for me to post here).

I have norton, it is updated and should be running (nothing shows up in my tray, but it is a runnin process).

Help?
 
OK, managed to take out the virus, so i got the .exe back running.
However, links do not work...all .lnk have been assigned to open with Word.
As I cant make links all open with a certain program, how can I make links simply open their targets?
