Music Sharing Apps

I have been using blubster but the network has become unreliable. I need an app that taps into a large network, and has 192+kbit quality mp3s. So.. stuff like Kazaa don't work because 128 is the best it can do. I'd definitely prefer it to be a stand-alone type deal.


So, what's out there? Been looking at afternapster.com and haven't found an app that works well for me. I could care less about software and porn availability; I just need music.
 
Perhaps for mainstream stuff one can find higher than 128 on kazaa, but I certainly can't find anything I'm looking for.

*edit* 128 hurts my head, especially if I burn it to a cd.
 
Seriously now, IRC is only a decent option for more mainstream stuff. I'm not going to go searching around fservs for stuff like Alkaline Trio, Promise Ring, Thursday, Midtown, ect. With a solid app you atleast have a decent chance of tracking this stuff down.

i dunno. i used #mp3metal and others like that on dalnet, and they had all kinds of non-mainstream stuff

and you don't use fserves. people generate list files, and you can do searches in the channel for what you want and download people's list files. the list files are just a list of commands for each song they have, and you cut/paste those into the channel for them to send to you.

best part is you get whole albums at high quality with uniform naming/tagging and everything. no need to piece shit together off of some network.

especially good if you find someone with a huge list and a fast connection...
 
Perhaps I'm just lazy. I don't usually have the time to search irc servers. Y'know? Sometimes you just wanna grab a song really quick. I survive with kazaa but blubster was heavenly while I could still connect to it.

192 and 128 are a world of difference...

Wear headphones? You'll notice.. if not, you've got a crappy ear..
