I agree wholeheartedly, despite the fact that I'm not getting this game, that the best thing for IW to do is to actually come out and demonstrate what their system can do.

It is console p2p. There's really nothing else it can do other than "matchmaking" which never worked in COD on consoles either (any game I ever play in has people of all skills).
