Public Disdain For Russia Probe Intensifies, Trump Approval Climbs — IBD/TIPP Poll

Most people think President Trump's critics are trying to use Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation to delegitimize the 2016 elections, the latest IBD/TIPP Poll finds. And a plurality thinks the FBI investigation into Trump's alleged ties to Russia was meant to rein him in.

These findings come in the wake of a New York Times story Friday that claimed the FBI had opened a counterintelligence probe into Trump several months into his presidency

The probe began, the Times says, days after Trump fired then FBI Director James Comey and was meant to determine whether Trump was a Russian agent.

Trump blasted the report, and said that the question of his being a Russian agent is "the most insulting thing I've ever been asked."

The IBD/TIPP Poll found that 51% agree that "the president's opponents are using the ongoing special counsel investigation into alleged Trump-Russia collusion as a way to delegitimize the 2016 election."

That includes most independents (52%), as well as the vast majority of Republicans (70%). The poll found that almost a third of Democrats (31%) agree with that statement.

Overall, 44% disagreed with that statement.

"Americans can see through this charade and recognize the 'open secret' — that the real goal of the opposition and the media is to delegitimize the outcome of the 2016 election and remove Trump from office one way or the other," said Raghavan Mayur, president of TechoMetrica who directed the poll.

For those who go to school, the day is unlikely to follow routines as volunteers, an estimated 400 substitutes and 2,000 staffers from central and regional offices fill in for 31,000 teachers, nurses, librarians and counselors. At 10 schools, nonteaching employees will take part in a sympathy strike, which will create additional headaches as administrators struggle to manage such tasks as preparing and serving meals.

During the last teachers’ strike in 1989, which lasted about nine days, roughly half of the district students went to school.

Met up with a buddy in the Burlington (vt) pd this weekend. He grabbed Bernie Sanders by the shoulders because he was trying to get through a limited access area and randoms kept trying to get through. He is seeing off one person when an old man sneaks through behind him and given his looks put the fear of God into this old guy from behind, spinning him around and yelling him off. Old guy looks up and boom its Bernie.

Thought the tribalwar antisocialist brigade here would appreciate Bernie getting a little police state he wants so much.
