Poll: Majority of Americans Approve of the Supreme Court

A new poll found that a majority of Americans approve of the Supreme Court for the first time in seven years.

More than half of Americans, 53 percent, approve of the job the Supreme Court is doing – the first year since 2011 that the approval rating is above a majority.

According to a new Gallup poll, the current approval rating is the highest its been since 2009, when it hit 61 percent, and a slight improvement from the last time the poll was taken in September 2017, when it sat at 49 percent.

The poll was conducted from July 1-11, a period that includes President Donald Trump's public deliberations on retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy's replacement and his nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to replace him.
