[Mega] MAGA Super Trump Mega Thread

So. When will the neoliberal media in the US start calling for sanctions against the UK for interfering in the elections? Isn't something like that equivalent to an act of war?

2018 will forever be the year that democrats learned that Facebook not only collects data on their users, but sells it, gives it away, and lets 3rd party corporations use them to collect user data too in order to more effectively market and brand ideas or products to people.

"Sure people told us they did that, but you don't really believe it's true until you see an outcome that's driven you to hysteria. My world is shattering right now."

Wishful thinking. Australia is guilty of it too. Or, at least the FBI is apparently looking into it.

What a joke.

As an outsider, it's remarkable how intellectually dishonest and corrupt the US corporate media is. They can't go a day without pearl clutching about some nonsense like Trump saying boo to the FBI or using a data analytics firm to help him win an upcoming election. Good grief.

That's so strange... what kind of President would phone Putin and congratulate him on his election?

Certainly not President Obama... oh, wait...

"President Obama called Russian President-elect and Prime Minister Putin to congratulate him on his recent victory in the Russian Presidential election," the White House said in a late Friday afternoon statement about the Friday morning phone call between the two leaders.

Trump Promises ‘Giant Tax Cut’ and Money in Pockets by February - Bloomberg

or get an average of over 2k back

but we have to explain this to people like phaytal who hated his tax cut.......hates his fellow union workers in his area.......but celebrates who they voted for in PA (as long as it is same team)

hates them tariffs, those steel and coal workers, despite a majority of Americans saying they would be willing to pay more money for goods if it meant more American manufacturing jobs

their message is clear(ly shit)

any message sounds good from 12/2017

Trump’s Tax Cuts in Hand, Companies Spend More on Themselves Than on Wages - The New York Times

In the fourth quarter, American companies’ investments in things like factories and business equipment grew by 6.8 percent. That was the fastest growth rate since 2014, but far from the giant surge in capital spending that was promised ahead of the tax overhaul.

But the buying back of shares is also at record levels.

Almost 100 American corporations have trumpeted such plans in the past month. American companies have announced more than $178 billion in planned buybacks — the largest amount unveiled in a single quarter, according to Birinyi Associates, a market research firm.

Such purchases reduce a company’s total number of outstanding shares, giving each remaining share a slightly bigger piece of the profit pie.

Cisco said this month that in response to the tax package, it would bring back to the United States $67 billion of overseas cash, using $25 billion to finance additional share repurchases. Alphabet, the parent company of Google, authorized up to $8.6 billion in stock purchases. PepsiCo announced a fresh $15 billion in planned buybacks. Chip gear maker Applied Materials disclosed plans for a $6 billion program to buy shares. Late last month, home improvement retailer Lowe’s unveiled plans for $5 billion in purchases.

On Monday, Mr. Buffett said on CNBC that Berkshire might be open to buy some of its shares. The remarks helped send Berkshire’s stock — and the broader market — higher.

More buybacks are almost certainly on the way. UBS analysts covering Apple said the iPhone maker might authorize another $30 billion in share purchases when it reports its next quarterly earnings in April. That would be on top of the $30 billion it already spends each year to buy back its shares.

At an initial meeting with its managing director Mark Turnbull and chief data officer Dr Alex Tayler the pair talked about their infamous data analytics and profiling services as a way to identify potential swing voters.

But Turnbull also suggested that the company could provide "intelligence gathering" through "relationships and partnerships we have with specialist organizations", and said the company could provide information on a political opposition's secrets and strategies.

Such shadowy tactics were again offered at a subsequent meeting, with Turnbull saying Cambridge Analytica could "contract under a different name, or as a different entity" so no trace of the company's involvement could be found.
...
Turnbull stressed however that it was "not in the business of fake news, lying, making stuff up, not in the business of entrapment."

But then...
That ethical line appeared to disappear however when the undercover journalists met with Cambridge Analytica's chief executive Alexander Nix.

Nix was caught on film outlining a series of extremely dubious and many cases illegal scenarios for dealing with political opponents. They included bribing officials and candidates – "we can have a wealthy developer come in and offer a large amount of money to a candidate - for land, for example" - and film the transaction in order to expose them as corrupt.

He also suggested that the company could arrange for a honey-trap – sending young women to operate a sex sting – while stressing that he was "just giving examples of what can be done, what has been done."

He also appeared to embrace the idea of creating and promoting fake news – an extremely sensitive topic given the evidence that fake news was used extensively in the US presidential elections in 2016 – noting that "it doesn't have to be true, it just has to be believed."

In response to what appeared to be clear evidence that Cambridge Analytica was prepared to carry out dirty tricks campaigns, the company said that its executives made the suggestions as a tactical ploy to see if the potential client was ethical.
