recording as well as the first tape echo delay.

A "legend?" Get real. An innovator, yes. But he's no Michael Jackson. Shit, you guys will worship anybody these days.
 
Without LP there would have been no such thing as multitrack recording - or it would have emerged much later.
No Beatles, et cetera.
