Laptop purchase advice?

I am going to be getting 1, possibly as manny as 3 laptops in the next few weeks, was wondering what brands people on tw have/reccomend? Best power/performance for the $ and what not. I'd build one, but having built laptops in the past, its a bitch without the right shit, which I no longer have.

So, opinions please (on computers).

hey matt :] I have an acer. Centrino 1.5, 512 ddr, radeon 900064mb, dvd burner and cd burner, 40gig HD, and it's widescreen. It's a great laptop, cost me maybe 1400$ american? (Im canadian, but it came out to that in US dollars)
