Johnny Cash is the man.

Sorry, but teen agnst involving drugs has a much smaller audience than a dieing legend. Perhaps your age (and mine) predicates our opinions.

DId I ever mention how a friend of mine made 3 paintings of him in a row as a tribute, and then Johnny died the next day?

Cash was a really talented musician, and even though most of his music isn't to my taste, some of it is. and regardless of that, i would still recognize his ability.

this tthread is 40 years too late. now if barry manilow would cover a lincoln park song all you bandwagon jumpers would say Barry rules. idiots.

I like his songs where they're more like crazy stories/monologues. i dont like these ones with a whole ton of country melody. are his albums sorted in these genres or is it just random

I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
upon my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
beneath the stains of time
the feelings disappear
you are someone else
I am still right here

what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

this is a johnny cash thread, not a nin one
