Would ruling another nation be compatible with basic american ideals of democracy and self-government???

is this a real question that you dont know the answer to, or are you trying to make some sort of point no one here cares about

since when is self rule an american ideal?

it's not "self rule" it's "us not getting pushed around or oppressed by anyone but us"

pushing around and oppressing anyone who isn't "us" is ok as well.

Cannibals govern themselves. The half-ape creatures of the Australian bush govern themselves. The Eskimo governs himself, and so do the wildest tribes of darkest Africa. But what kind of a government is it?

No it isn't..

Working together for the good of man kind and treating everyone on the same level is a better approach.

Your name screams "Furry!" but your post is saying "Canadian!"

Yes, of course it would be. The key here is defining the term "ruling"...

Uh in order for a nation to be self-government, it needs to be sovereign.

So yes it would go against the basic ideals.

Why do we always have to re-invent the dictionary these days? How else would you define the word 'ruling'. It's a very simply word meaning 'to set the rules'.

While we are at it, let's also make sure we are clear about the definition of the term 'nation', 'american', 'ideals', 'democracy' and 'self-government'

But then all this defining things depends on the definition of 'define'.

(I swear this was all started by Clinton when he said "That depends on how you define the word 'sex'.") :p
