Is the word 'ridiculous' difficult to spell for people?

I find it easy to spell, but I see it misspelt a lot.

I think the most commonly misspelled word is "harass" though.

"Embarrassing" is also a problem on this board.
yeah..misspelled seems to be a bitch too.

it's "ridicule" not "redicule"

No kidding. Go to dictionary.com and look up a few words without obvious roots. Odds are you'll come across a few that were "believed to be derived from" other words, but the spellings changed over time (usually due to pronounciation changes).

Redicule: To dicule more than once?

Your momma asked me to dicule her one more time last night.

I was all, "woah, bitch, I don't redicule nobody in a 20 minute timeframe."

Better watch out, I'll redicule, and you'll love it.

English is a living language. Word spellings, connotations, and denotations are all in a state of slow, constant change. The dark powers of the internet seem to accelerate this phenomenon.

It would be rediculous to believe otherwise...just check it out down at your local libary, noob. ;)

right by power of mass stupidity.

I'm just curious as it is misspelled here all the time.

I've often wondered the same thing in regards to the use of REDiculous.

I don't know why it's such a stumbling block for some.

Then again, I never understood why people used "turreNt," either.

Well... maybe there aren't that many words that end in 'et', but there are more words that end in 'ent'.
