Sigh. I didn't want to respond to this again, but you've engaged me--

Two things:

1. I was making a priggish statement of semantics: the article title should have read "Is Melania Trump Spying For Russia?" The way it's written, it makes the tacit implication she is Russian as well and we're just now finding this out, omg.

2. The news story is short on substance, long on the logical fallacy of begging the question.:


  • Why would an attractive, younger model find a man with a troubled financial and marital history so compelling that she would not only marry him, but stay by his side, even after he repeatedly cheated on her?

  • If he was worth as much as he claims to be, why not file for divorce and her share of the assets?

  • But why not Donald himself?

  • Moscow doesn’t directly hire idiots, useful or not. Someone like that requires a handler, and what better handler for an older, egotistical character like Donald than Melania?

The writer says "I don't have any hard evidence," so the reader can assume that he DOES have some circumstantial evidence, but he doesn't even have that.

I'm on your side, and agree with a lot of what you write here, but that article had a bad title and a crap body. As we approach the day when the world laughs at his firing, I want the criticisms of him to be airtight.
