IRS looking to tax online games

IRS likes to tax stuff.
If online games (wow, real life, other mmos) have a currency that is traded for real money, then the online currency has real value.
IRS can tax you for things besides just earnings. ex. prizes.
If a mob drops gold, a prize, that has real monetary value, can the IRS tax it?
If you sell something online, and the transaction has a monetary value, can the IRS tax that?
 
Not going to read it because I read one the other day...Anyway, seems to me that the IRS should be able to tax the sale of online currency for real money.
 
Yeah, basically they are more concerned with people making money by selling these things and then not claiming it. The items in the game itself I wouldn't think would be taxable, only the transactions between players.
