My house is old...like 200 years old

Before we moved in nobody had done any remodelling since probably the early 70s.

We have redone every room but the kitchen was the biggest pain in the ass. I just finished it on Sunday.

I'm tired as hell.

couple questions
Why not put the tin behind the stove?
What kind of ceiling is that?
 
we thought the tin might look funny behind the stove so we stuck to the backsplash

however in retrospect I think it would look pretty awesome.


but we're selling the house so the next people can do it if they want.


the ceiling is actually the only thing we didn't redo in that room, its just a simple tiled ceiling

i think you need recessed lighting though. the lights you have now are huge

new appliances never hurt either

we would have done the lights had we done the ceiling but things got sort of accelerated recently when we found a house we wanted to buy

the appliances are all less than 3 years old. We had gas installed so that we could have a gas stove etc

i did the flooring a year ago. Everything else was done on the weekends in the last two months.

I'm exhausted.

we didn't have the $$ for granite or corian. We just decided that even that would be an upgrade from what was there, look better etc.

hrm let me think...

appliances aside (since we did those even before we moved in)

probably somewhere around 3-5k

I can't really estimate how much it has helped our house's value though. Its defintiely allowed us to ask a higher price, but a lot of times those types of improvements help sell a house period

we'll still make out ok if we get our asking price (which is very competitive since we are kind of under a time constraint to sell it)

next house is going to be only a couple of years old


Also, when I moved into this house I was not handy...like...at all
