PATRIOTS SOURCE: TOM BRADY WILL BE TRADED TO SAN FRANCISCO

Tom Brady has played his last game as a New England Patriot and will be traded to the San Francisco 49ers, a source with ties to the Patriots organization has told Sportsimproper.com.

According to a Patriots official, the condition of Brady's injured knee
is worse than has been previously reported and will probably require further surgery. As a result, Brady will miss the entire 2009-2010 season. Brady would be 33 at the beginning of the following season (2010-2011) and the Patriots simply cannot wait that long for their superstar quarterback to return to form.
But whether Brady can ever actually help the 49ers on the field is another story.

As reported by Sportsimproper.com last month, two orthopedic surgeons with knowledge of the Brady case stated that due to the nature of the injury and the complications arising from subsequent infections, there was a high probability the quarterback would miss significant time or possibly never play again.

One surgeon said: "If there (was) another infection and the patellar tendon graft (which is used to replace the ACL) is compromised, that could cause him to miss significant time next season. (Besides) it truly takes a year for the ligaments and surrounding muscles to function as a real unit again. Some doctors may suggest six months, but in reality it is a year plus."

Media reports persist the Patriots will place the franchise tag on back-up quarterback Matt Cassel for the 2009 season. That move would open the door for Brady to go to San Francisco. While the idea of Brady playing anywhere but New England may come as a shock to Patriots fans, the Bay Area would be a natural fit for him on many levels.

Brady was born in San Mateo, just outside San Francisco, and wants to end his career, or what's left of it, near his home, the Patriots official indicated. Brady recently purchased property in Brentwood, California, which is just north of San Francisco, and reportedly plans to build a home there.

Further adding to Brady’s roots to the Golden State, his son, John Edward Thomas Moynihan, born in 2007 by actress and ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynihan, lives in California.

If healthy, Brady would give San Francisco the big-name quarterback it has lacked since the days of Joe Montana and Steve Young. The 49ers finished 7-9 this past season, improving slightly from their 5-11 finish in 2007.

Added altogether, said the Patriots official: "(That’s why) he's going to San Francisco."

yea but they're going to tag and trade

this prevents him leaving the patriots and the pats getting absolutely dick back

Exactly, While I see a smart football decision being to trade Brady, especially considering QBs take time to get over knee injuries, the Pats are one of the more player loyal franchises in the NFL. They keep their core players until their usefulness is near 100% gone.

Cassel will either be a Viking or on rick back-up QB in 09.

Its not about being player loyal, brady is just one of the best qbs to ever play the game. You'd be retarded to trade him for any reason.

yea like lawyer milloy, deion branch, daniel graham, willie mcginest, ty law and asante samuel right

Can only be as loyal as your players are to you...

See Troy Brown, Tedy Bruschi, Rodney Harrison, Larry Izzo and scores more over the years who have retired.

milloy - money
branch -money
graham - money and start
willie mcginest -money
ty law - money
asante samuel- money

Nature of the game. Whiek the Pats offered all of those guys fair contracts, they knew they could get more in the open market.

Bruschi and Brady are the poster boys for team loyalty. If only more teams could build this rep with their players....

This is coming from a 49ers fan who really doesn't like the Pats, but watched 3 of the greatest players get marched out of town like pieces of trash(Montana, Rice, Lott)

See Montana Circa 1992.... Anything is possible. However is is far more unlikely.

Most of those guys wanted way more money than they were worth, maybe with the exception of Samuel.

^^ dammit beaten by a much more descriptive post.

ok and how is money not part of the equation when you're talking about 2 QBs, each worth $15 million

anyways i love the patriots but you can't say "they're loyal to their players" and then blame the player when they ask for a fair-market deal and the team refuses. how is that loyal?

how are the patriots player loyal?

If anything they're the oposite.

they're one of the few teams that go "oh, you want a lot more money because you played well? go fuck yourself on another team, we'll get some noname and he'll do just fine in our system"

they let all their 'big name' WR's go after a superbowl one year because they wanted more money. The result? Moss and Welker, for cheap.

Is Brady worth 6 million a season? No he is worth allot more. He has an incentive laden contract which is what Samuel was offered. But Brady also is willing to "help" the team by taking a lower cap number. They would have got them all their money, you just have to buy into the system.

And what has he done since he left? They know the talent they have better then any other team and know the true value of their players. W/o branch they still made the AFC championship game, while Branch has played in a little over half of his games with Seattle.

Say what you will, but they are loyal to who they see as vital to their success.

most players take a pay cut to play for the pats

it takes more than money to play for the best

Brady's worth came down significantly with Casel (mr. backup-for-life) doing well this year. Lots of people are wondering if brady is really that good, or if he's just a system qb with a good arm. On top of that he had a serious knee injury - see Carson Palmer - and his ability when he's 100% is still in question. Sure there are teams out there that will pay him anything he wants to play for them - but those are also teams that make major mistakes.
(i wouldn't be surprised if snyder tried to get him - the man is a dumbfuck who thinks a player is good if he wants a recordbreaking contract).
