getting new laptop for work...Macbook hardware question

I'm wondering if there is any point to getting the 4gig ram upgrade in a Macbook 2.4ghz. Can the processor even use that much memory? I work in a creative capacity doing music, video and photo editing. I don't have the budget for a Pro. What do you think, should I get the RAM?
 
Everyone that I know with a Macbook has upgraded their RAM.

You can save a fair bit of money if you do this yourself, or go to a shop that specializes in this. Apple's markup is a total ripoff on memory upgrades.

And your CPU should support 4GB just fine. Some older 32bit only hardware would only detect about 3.5GB, I'm not positive if this is that case here. I'm not a Mac expert my any stretch of the imagination.
