Get good anti-virus as soon as you possibly can.
As we've seen on these forums, even here a line of viruses called "Anti-virus 2008", "Windows Anti-virus 2009" and other variants are running amok.
This virus infects by malicious e-mails, websites, and the virus people even buy Google ads. It can be installed by just visiting a webpage through a exploit in Java- something I'm willing to bet most here have not updated in a long time.
This trojan/virus has the following:
Get good, paid, subscription based anti-virus software. This virus also runs circles around Norton, Symantec or McAfee, so my suggestion is usually NOD32 or Kapersky (although Kapersky is on it's way toward bloatville).
For those of you who don't use anti-virus, you are not immune, and for many kinds of spyware you don't know you're infected until you scan and find the background files, so you're probably infected with something else anyway.

- Registration prompts to trick your loved ones into registering the software, stealing their credit card number, charging $30-40 and then selling the credit card number online.
- Keyloggers that will phone home usernames/logins on pretty much any web page you visit.
- A very rapid infection rate that for many strains of this trojan leads to real (although fake ones are some of the symptoms) bluescreens and infection of system files within 72 or so hours.
